In 2008, I was in charge of the technical and creative side of the TV-production operations of ZoomDish, a New York-based network addressing the growing American muslim population. In this climate of scrutiny over Islam, the channel recalled age-old Islamic virtues of moderation, tolerance, and intellectual growth. I wrote the script and TV producer Assad Khan delivered its message. I shot Assad in front of a green screen with a Sony PDF-150 and tota-lights… these were what the studio had access to at the time. Though lighting the greenscreen evenly with such tools was difficult, what was more problematic was keying the standard definition footage for a composite that utilizes so many layers. Most of the videos clips featured as excerpts from various programs were also edited and shot or directed by me.
