FEATURE FILM: Mouthpiece

Mouthpiece is an upcoming feature film and TV show by David Merritt II. Included below is the synopsis and info from the filmmakers:

King David Films Presents MOUTHPIECE… “Entourage” meets “The Hangover.”

Five young men struggle for success, power, fame, love and sex in “Los Scandalous.” Armed with “The Laws,” a step-by-step guide to get any man what he wants, the men fall neck deep into the wild world of LA as they discover what’s most important, their friendship. Because in life you have to know the game, you have to know the laws, you have to have a MOUTHPIECE.

Written and Directed by David Merritt II. Shot by DP Steve Mason of “Mad Men.”

I had the pleasure of working closely with the director as the editor, motion graphic artist, and colorist. As editor, I aimed to pace the edit to sustain the lively feel of a comedy, utilizing footage of two to three cameras running simultaneously in almost every scene. This film is one of the few projects I edited which featured such a large ensemble cast. For the title animation design, the director wanted an “Old Hollywood” theme. I utilized the motif of the flashing bulbs, inspired from 40’s-era camera flashes and flickering stage lights.

The film will be submitted to festivals soon. I have included here the opening scenes of both the TV and film versions.
